The Prettiest Bridals

These are some of my favorite bridal photos I’ve ever seen. bridal_makeup_wedding_makeup_glammakeup_for_brides_wedding_makeup_artistbarbie_bridal-makeupAnd Camilla Binks Photography is a genius. I LOVE that she had Jessica take her hair out and the end to switch it up. So hot. richard_kid_history_married_wedding_richard_sharrah
And might I mention that Jessica my client, is literally a princess. At Disney World. And she married the ever so talented actor Richard Sharrah (YouTube sensation Kid History.)  Don’t feel weird staring at them ’cause they’re so good looking. I’m sure everybody does. richard_kidhistory_wedding_jessica_photoswinter_bridal_makeup_hairwedding_hairstyles_bridal_halfup_blondebridal_makeup_trends_vivianmakeupartistEyes

makenna

My favorite thing about my job has to be the people. I get to be around all kinds of super rad wonderful people, and I also love having the opportunity to share in their laughter and special moments.

I first met one of those super rad wonderful people — Makenna — when I was doing makeup for the Utah Jazz Dancers, ’cause she was one of them! I had the chance to do her makeup on her wedding day, and I was so excited to see her and her brand new hubs, Aaron. They had just gotten married (literally 20 minutes before they stopped by my studio), and I was doing a touch up on Makenna’s makeup. I asked her how it felt to be a Mrs., and then I went to ask Aaron how it felt to be a Mr…

…and then I realized, what a dumb question! His name hasn’t changed! 😆 Aarons immediate response was hysterical. He responded with the quit wit of a Brit (did I mention he has a British accent? ) jokingly laughing “My name DID change. It changed from Mister to Master.”  What a character!

For her hair:I used my Sultra ‘The Bombshell’ 1.5-Inch Curling Iron and Kenra 25 Hairspray.

the perfect bridal glow

Something that I learned in makeup school is you should always address ANY of the skin that will be showing on your client, not just on their face. So depending on their outfit I always try to remember to look at their neck, arms, back or legs and see if any of it needs to be smoothed or color corrected.

Funny side note, the teacher talking about this told us that Conan O’Brien refuses to let anyone put makeup on his hands…even though apparently it looks pretty distracting when his hands are anywhere near his face.

Sometimes just adding a little glow and evenness to your body is enough to take your entire look to the next level. You can see the subtle difference on her arm in the photos below.
bodyglowwebI’ve been trying all different kinds of body glow products all summer long and here are my favorites:

For a sheer more subtle look, I love Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body

For a more reflective look with a little more coverage, I like Gleam. They make several colors and you can find help choosing your correct shade by watching the videos on this page here.glow_bridal_makeup_webIsn’t Marina lovely?

More details for this look coming soon.

Spring Bridal Makeup

The warmer weather here in Salt Lake is getting me excited for spring and summer! Since most brides would rather have the flowers, without the “April showers” (i’m such a poet) let’s call this look the springtime-with-summer-on-the-horizon-bridal-look 😎

The details

Step 1 Apply MAC Cranberry eyeshadow from lash line to crease using MAC Fluff Brush 213.

Step 2 Darken outer corner with MAC Embark using MAC Mini Shader Brush 228.

Step 3 Apply MAC Amber Lights to crease using MAC Fluff Brush 213 (same brush as step 1) and to lower lash line using MAC Mini Shader Brush 228 (same brush as step 2.)

Step 4 Add lashes, mascara, and a nude eyeliner.

A few things, the flares I used for her lashes are twice as full as the typical individual flares from Ardell, therefore, I didn’t feel like she needed a dark eyeliner on top because her eyes were already defined by the lashes. Plus, the dark eyeshadow dupes as a liner.

Her lip color is Lancome lip liner in Charme and Dior Gloss 257 Venus.  Her blush is Chanel Rose Bronze.

For brides, waterproof mascara is often a good idea, just in case.

These photos were taken by Jessica Janae, then they took some bridals after I got her ready. Pretty lady! Flowers by Soil & Stem. Headband by https://www.etsy.com/shop/ThePoshSociety

Also, to follow up on my post about wavy curly hair texture, I tried the whipped creme mousse from Sebastian. I like it! It’s awesome if you do not want any crunch to your hair. I’d say it’s like 2/3 mousse with a little hold and 1/3 super light weight leave in conditioner. For something with a little bit more texture or hold, I love the Kenra mousse, and that link takes you to a sample size so you can try it out before making the big jump. Plus I’m kind of a fan of the smaller bottle for portability reasons too.

Wavy hair kind of makes me think of summer too…beachy waves….beach…..

Is it weird that now I kind of want a Big Stick popsicle?!
Oh the memories…big sticks and roller blading. Anyone know if those popsicles still exist?!
