Do you think you can’t pull off a bold lip? Have you avoided buying a rich, pigmented shade because you’re afraid it can’t be part of your everyday look? Bold lipstick colors don’t have to be scary, and everyone can absolutely wear them! Depending on how it’s applied and what you pair it with, a lipstick can be incredibly diverse. I was asked to do makeup for four darling fashionistas, and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show off just how multifaceted one little red lipstick can be!

I used the same exact lipstick on all four girls, sanitizing in between with my trusty Cosmetic sanitizer wipes. The lipstick I used was Lancome’s ‘L’Absolu’Rouge in Saffron Silk , check out how different it looks on each on of them!

The first look I did was on model Jackie. I started with Lancome Lip Liner in Charme , then blotted Lancome Lipstick in Saffron Silk on her lips, and finished the look with Bobbi Brown Lipgloss in Crystal.

P.S. I know you’re all distracted by her beautiful locks and are not even paying attention to her lip color 😉 Her ↑ beautiful hair color was done by the very talented Aubrey Nelson www.aubreynelson.com using a rather intriguing technique called hair painting.

Now, back to lipstick

This ↓ is Katie from Katie & Kellie. On her I used Urban Decay Lip Pencil in Venom ,Lancome Lipstick in Saffron Silk , and  Bobbi Brown Lipgloss in Crystal

This ↓ is Alycia from Crowley Party . On her I used Urban Decay Lip Pencil in Native , Lancome Saffron Silk Lipstick, and MAC Lipglass in Prrr

This ↓ is Brittany from The Glittering Life . On her I used Lancome Lip Liner in Rougelle, Lancome Lipstick in Saffron Silk , and Bobbi Brown Lipgloss in Crystal

Knowing how to mix and match lip liners and glosses with your lipstick can cut down on the amount of makeup you haul around in your purse or makeup kit. It can also save you a lot of money; you can create different looks by layering products that you already own! Remember, pink is just red with a little white mixed in (or in this case, a light pearly gloss.)  And a plum tone is just red with some blue mixed in (or in this case, a purplish lip liner.) Play around with different combinations until you find what you like.

How beautiful are these girls? Here is a picture from the photo shoot they headed to after I did their makeup (thank goodness they’re all already hot cause I was massively crunched for time!)

If you’re still nervous about running out and buying a shade outside your comfort zone you can still utilize some of these ideas!  Do something fun with that lipstick you bought from the grocery store that looked entirely like a different color in the package, or the free gift with purchase lipstick you got but never wear because you thought it was too dark. We’ve all been there! Makeup is all about experimentation.
