IIID Foundation Intro

I often teach makeup lessons and classes and I always emphasize this one very important thing: Your skin is really important, it takes up the majority of your face. It needs to look good.

There’s a product called IIID foundation and I stole this description right off maskcaracosmetics.com: IIID Foundation is a two color foundation system that gives you skin smoothing coverage, a perfect sculpt and movie star lighting all in one speedy system!

If you haven’t seen this video, go watch. She show’s you exactly how to use it.

This product is ideal if you:

-Want to highlight and contour and need it to be fast

-Don’t want a million layers of makeup on your skin

I have and it is fantastic! It makes your skin look great and is so fast to apply. I always get compliments when I wear this makeup. Love it. I’m even wearing it today 🙂

I have to wear foundation under this makeup. When I don’t it is way too sheer. My husband even noticed and said, “woah, that makeup doesn’t cover up much”. To be fair I have a very red face. If I don’t wear makeup people always ask if I’m sunburnt. That being said I still love this makeup. I use it every time I need to look tops! I just wear it with foundation under. Maybe I’m doing it wrong?

No that’s not wrong! What foundation have you been using with it? I always love hearing what works for people 🙂

This is my second go with this product and I too would love a recommendation for an under foundation. I am too oily for this to stay put all day, it’s not a full coverage, but I do love it! Just needs some tweaking for my face. If you’d rather recommend a powder top coat, I’d take that too.

I’m oily too! So I’ve been doing some troubleshooting for that. A powder helps for sure! But the way you put the powder on makes a difference. Normally i’d just dust it on with a brush but I recently remembered that at makeup design school whenever we were working with cream foundation they’d have us take puffs (I bought these puffs ’cause I thought they were cute haha, Or I used these puffs at school) and dump a little loose powder on it, then fold it in half and kind of work the powder into the puff, and then press it onto your skin. It has worked way better for me with the IIID than my typical powdering technique. If you already own a sheer or translucent type powder you could try that first? But I’ve been using the puff with Ben Nye Banana Powder and it’s worked really well (if you’re very fair the banana powder may look a tiny bit yellow so let me know and I can make other recommendations.) I still need a touch up at 6-8 hrs but I often do with any foundation. Try that out and let me know how it goes!!!!

I noticed you recommend Lancome Teint idole for foundation- would you still recommend that foundation for an everyday look with your recommended Laura Mercier contouring palette. If this Maskcara kit is sheer, I would like more coverage but I’m also looking for a contouring palette. What’s your recommendation?

    • Vivian April 16, 2015 at 11:54 am - Reply

Ah yes good question 🙂 Lancome Teint Idole is a full coverage matte finish. It can be tricky to use creamy contour products with a foundation that dries down super matte. You could try a powder contour or bronzer like theBalm Bahama MamatheBalm to contour with. I do like Lancome Teint Idole for full coverage and Givency for a medium/full soft matte foundation. For foundations that can be used with cream contours you could try Lancome Teint Miracle or MUFE HD.
I hope that helps! Complexion stuff can be tricky without knowing skin type and tone etc.

This product looks amazing. I’ve been looking for something for everyday and lighter coverage. Would you say this is good for that? I was also wondering what kind of brushes you used to apply? Oh and do you recommend using a primer under this at all? Thanks!!
